Hello Blender Nation!
I'm not much of a character guy but someone asked me on my last tutorial if I could make a skin material. I've never tried before but with a little knowledge of procedural texturing I think I came up with a "pretty good" shader. This isn't 100% realistic, but should do a fantastic job of taking your character's skin from a basic "SSS only" material to the next level.
The end result here is a balance between shader complexity, and final result.
Please let me know what you think. I'd love to see someone take this a step further and create procedural moles, scars, and more. The possibilities are endless!
Happy Blending :)

Thanks. Really awesome tutorial.
I tried the texturing and it worked fine but some areas of my model are darker and only showing the base color, while the rest of it show everything(that's semi-realistic with the sub surface scattering), please how can I fix that. Thankyou
Here's how it looks like
A render IS or IS NOT realistic. Keeping people always on the verge of uncanny valley is not quite elegant, especially after ten years of swet.
This looks like"I've tried but... just let me call it "semi".
This way, a slightly blurred persian green carpet might easily become a semi-glade background. Ain't that a beauty?!
Yes, some people want to play with materials and make things "looking like" whatever. But exploring deeper within Blender 3D wonders, having some respect for the people who worked on it, we can reveal it's true force, impacting the 3D world from a different perspective than a "sweet" tool just good to play with ("let's draw some lines here").
This tool is far beyond a toy.
Please have a look at some Blender established galleries and make an effort to get closer to a professional status, before trying to teach others.
