Rendering on the Golem Worldwide Supercomputer

Mark1138 writes:

The Golem project is working to deliver a blockchain-based, peer-to-peer compute farm that can be used for Blender and LuxRender rendering. In addition to buying time on the farm, users can join the farm and sell compute time on their own machine. Payment for service will utilize a blockchain technology similar to that used by cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.

According to their web site "The first release (Brass Golem) is scheduled for early 2018 and focuses on Golem’s first use case - CGI rendering. Brass Golem enables CGI artists to process even the most compute-intensive Blender and LuxRenderer scenes orders of magnitude faster than their local machines and much cheaper than commercial render farms. Later in 2018 we are planning to add GPU support as well as integrations with some mainstream commercial rendering software."
