The Art of Trexminator

15

Enjoy the work of Mare Tabac from Mauritius.

Born in India and grown in Mauritius, I discovered 3D as an art to express my feelings, creativity and ideas. And the only way to express that is through Blender.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

    • Really? Then you must be oversaturated with the best of the best and there is nothing new under the sun for at least 6000 years, right?

No I agree with Bart, Mare has done a great work.

      • Then you are as entitled to your opinion as I am. In my opinion it is fairly average work. For example the bathroom scene, one of the mirrors overlaps the light. A bit of a schoolboy error.

        • Hi, thanks bro I appreciate your comment and this is what going to make me learn and become professional. Personally am not offended but your words are the road to my success. :)

        • I have to agree with you, criticism is important part of development. And there is plenty of improvements that can be done in these images.

    • Just wanted to provide some improvement ideas. As you mentioned useful criticism is important. Saying it is just not great is not that productive.

I recommend you post them on blenderartist for more criticism, unsure if you are getting a lot on artstation .

Still my feedback on your work.

The Road - the blur up close and no blur in far distance makes the image look like a miniature. recommend playing a bit more with DOF. Also road itself could use some worn in paths where car travel

Quarantine zone - everything is too clean. the rubble is only next to the curbs. Add some dirt to the windows, roof and the road it self.

Minimalist - overall good, the texture on the floor feels too large compared to that of the walls.

Colourforest - looks good, though the barrels feel displaced, or if they are important put a bit more emphasis on it. hard to know where my eyes should concentrate on

Snowy land - I didn't expect that much of yellow flowers. The tracks in the snow look fresh, yet they seem to go nowhere, right into the far grass. Also car tracks would yeld two independent lines. The aft tires would not follow the exact path of the front tires.

Kitchen Time - the "window" looks too flat, and the materials are too clean (metal legs of the table for example would be a tad dirty, same goes for utencils) They are too reflective/clean for them to be all over the countertop like that. recommend leaving handels nearly shiny and the ends more dirty to show they were used to eat something.

Midieval moments - water puddele is too reflective, and there is way too many glowy flowers near the buildings. Also more dirt on the buildings and less sharpness on them

shapeship bathroom - mirro as mentioned by another, and the water looks very fake. unsure if there should be that much motion in that water, unless spaceship is doing something. Also the towels on the floor to neat - rotate some of them a bit

magical confusion - the pipes,.. the pipes.. are way way too clean. on the wals The window feels a tad dirty but could also improve. Also with the blood under the tub, yet hard to figure out it's purpose. and the rest of the floor is too clean ...

      • Thanks Prodeous, that what I wanted someone to provide a specific criticism... Thanks for idea of Blenderartist..

Thank you for the feedback on the works. That is going to help me understand and correct my flaws.

        • No worries, that is what Blender community is strong on, which is supporting each other.

For the road scene, I also recommend adding in some fog or discolouration of objects which are further away from camera. things further away usually are more dull in colour, due to the atmosphere. For any image which covers large distances, that is probably a nice point too

          • I agree in that the Blender Artist/Developer community is unmatched . . . anywhere. Everyone has been very helpful to me along the way for which I am grateful. It's tough to check your feelings at the door sometimes. We all have struggled with that before I'd safely bet . . . but if you can do that, and receive constructive criticism, then you are definitely on your way to the next level. Your work is really nice and with your great attitude it's only going to get better. Keep it up! (We're never to old to stop learning something. That's what makes us stronger individuals all around.) Look forward to seeing more in the future. You're DEFINITELY on your way! :)
