The Class Room In Blender Eevee

The Class room scene [by Christophe Seux] rendered with Blender 2.8 Eevee, almost no change in material, more on the lights, not add GI probe, although less mistake in animation, but the lighting effects looks great. very thanks for the Eevee developers.

  1. As the developers return the modifiers functionality, that will be the game changer in previsualization for a lot of studios!

  2. As impressive as this all is, can we get please a completely wireframe-only (not wireframe overlayed on solid mode) option in 2.8 too? It's not a big ask, it's a purely ideological design decision, it would not be hard to add it to 2.8.

Seriously I desperately need one otherwise I'm going to need to keep 2.79 installed forever! Where I work my boss regularly (like, on average 10 to 20 times a week) asks for me to make wireframe images of something I've designed to show a client. Right now I can just set Blender to wireframe mode and hit 'OpenGL render'. I can't see how I can do that anymore in 2.8 based on the changes I've seen so far.

"Sorry my software doesn't do that anymore" is not going to be an acceptable answer at work. I will just need to keep 2.79 installed so I can switch to it, but that's going to become very painful. Other than that, maybe making some kind of custom wireframe material and doing a Cycles render but that seems like a major pain compared to the current situation.

    • Don't worry, blender 2.8 wireframe type view will still exist, and will kick the butt of current wireframe view. Watch the talk from bcon16, Dalai talks about it.

      • As long as 2.8 has an option for a wireframe *only* mode (not the wireframe overlaid on top of the solid object mode with all those shadows and everything), just straight black lines, then I'll be fine.

But so far it doesn't have that and everyone is talking about how the new mode.

Seriously I just need that simple wireframe mode for my purposes, and I really hope I'm not going to need to use the Cycles render engine and a custom wireframe material just to make the same images I was making before with a simple OpenGL render. I hate to complain because I love Blender and love it's devs but I feel like someone needs to mention this.

    • Hi DAR,

Yeah still no working builds of 2.8 for Mac that actually render eevee in the viewport that I can tell. Still getting black, non-shaded objects and really bad magenta artifacts in the viewport. I don't know if its because of an issue with display drivers that apple provides or what, but I have to boot into Windows 10 to try out Eevee. I hope by the official 2.8 release this is resolved.

  3. I am a newbie and wanted to compare the performance of 2.8 versus 2.79 using the classroom scene.
In 2.8 the chairs are not displayed, neither in the viewport nor in the render. Eevee renders the (chairless) room in a flash, then overlays the image with dark blobs.

My expectation was that the scenes as such could be used in both versions without any changes but this is somehow not the case... I won't rule out that I am just too stupid...

I am experimenting with 2.79b and 2.8 on Windows 10

  4. Same here. Ther classroom is rendered without chairs.
    It says:
"Non-empty object 'chair' cannot duplicte collection 'schooldesk' anymore in Blender 2.80 - removing instancing"

    ...
    regards
