Beach Waves -Blender

16

Not new, but this wave simulation by Artell Blender is SOOOO good! Check it out.

(Hat tip to Tangent Animation).

My latest project to improve my skills in Blender fluid simulation. 100% Blender, except After Effect for final compositing. Been using Realflow before, and i'm quite surprised by Blender! It deserves a lot more attention.

The wet sand is done with dynamic paint maps.

--Specs--
Sim:
Fluid res: 697 (60 sec/frame)
Splash particles: ~300K

Rendering:
Fluid pass (diffuse, glossy, vector): ~35 sec/frame
Splash pass: ~25 sec/frame

Vamos a la playa!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Please find time to make a tutorial. This would be awesome! Looks so great! It's looks very complicate to realise with blender.

  2. Wow, thanks Bart for the highlight and for your feedback guys!
Thanks to a great Blender expert and tutor, a tutorial is being prepared (I won't make it myself). But it's a long task, please be patient.
