Get ready for a fantastic rock trip with this video by Michael Enzbrunner.
My name is Michael Enzbrunner and I'm a Toronto-based visual artist & animator. My work is a mix of analog and digital techniques and ranges from drawings and illustrations to animations and other moving imagery. Whenever possible, I also get involved with the music and sound-design for my visuals.
I’ve been a Maya user for the most part of my 3D life and DEATH VAN is my first major project in Blender. There were quite a few obstacles during the 1.5 years it took to make the film, but I was surprised on a daily basis, what a crazy good piece of software Blender has become. I had no idea… The animation started out from an artist in residence program at the Toronto Animated Image Society, where I had the chance to develop the style and characters of the film. My main goal was to create a dream-like, yet convincing miniature world with an analog look that is reminiscent of old stop-motion flicks. I wanted to leave the viewer with the feeling of having watched something like a "good" nightmare.
What is it about? DEATH VAN is a space-rock duo that tours through a surreal universe inhabited by weird little creatures who are terrorized by a menacing and mischievous entity.
Thanks for your time watching!

Beautiful. Blender is the future. 1.5 years. Wow. I can see all the hard work. It's great. Even the song fits in perfectly.
Thanks JUNCANDO!!
Woah! That was trippy! I loved the music! The look had a Tool/heavy metal (movie)/AI (movie) vibe to it. Amazing stuff!
Glad you liked it! Tool, Heavy Metal, makes total sense.. If you're into that kind of stuff and you haven't seen it, you should check out 'Nova Seed'.
That was unbelievable.
The thumbnail image doesn't do it justice though. I had no idea the depth.
Thanks, really appreciate your comment!
Boy!, That was pretty cool. From beginning to end this was a serious display of creativity and talent, well done.
That's very encouraging. Cheers!
Wow! Fuckin´awsome, especially in combination with that music. Thanks a lot for 6:00 wonderful minutes of lifetime!
PULSWELLE, gern geschehen! Thanks for your kind compliment.
This is amazing! The piece flows so well with the music. With the exception of the official Blender movies, I think this is the best video I've seen so far created in Blender.
Wow!
For real. It's been a long time since a job surprised me so much. Awesome!
I share it in social network.
And I'm so glad you used blender for this project.
Thank you for believing in the blender and for sharing this with us.
I look forward to seeing the makingOff

Very cool! Thank you for your comment and for sharing! I really hope I'll find time and $$ to make more stuff with Blender in the future... In regards to a making-of: It definitely would be great to show a part of the process. I haven't put my head towards it though. Maybe something like a making-of slash tutorial combo. It might take a bit until I'll be able to put that into action, but stay tuned!
Amazing work, truely a gem. Would be very curious to see some behind the scenes / breakdown of some shots. Congrats!
Cheers, ELBRIGA! I'm sure I'll be working something out for a making off/breakdown.
Great!!!
Thanks, Maximiliano!
