Twitch Experiment #2 - Live streams overview

4

So I quickly learned that I don't really have the bandwidth to constantly monitor Twitch and host cool Blender streams :) As the next step, I figured I could try to make an automated system that lists current Blender sessions on stream. I'm looking for any streams that contain the word 'blender' (soon to change to #blender, once there's enough activity), and I list the results by number of viewers. Give it a try!

If you're a Twitch streamer, just add #blender to your session's title and it will appear in the overview.

What do you think - is this something you're interested in? Should I put a thumbnail of the current most popular Twitch session on the homepage? Let me know :)

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. This makes me want to write a script via curl and grep somehow....Have you given any thought to using the Blender channel on Discord instead? I feel like you'd get more people that way. Ask them to add a stream list section.
