Sketchfab Now Supports Subsurface Scattering, Translucency

3

With this week's update, Sketchfab now brings support for real-time SSS and translucency shaders. Check out the effect it has on skin shading for characters or translucent materials like jade!

We are proud to announce our official support for Subsurface scattering and translucent materials starting today. You can now add these effects to any existing or upcoming model on Sketchfab using our 3D editor. We’ve put together two comprehensive sections under the materials tab for both Subsurface Scattering and Translucency allowing for a huge range of effects from subtle skin shaders to translucent materials like milk, ceramic, and wax.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
