Tutorial: Heat Distortion

BlendMaster writes:

Hey Everyone! In this tutorial I will be showing you how to easily add heat distortion to any scene that you are working on, or image that is already rendered out. It is super easy to do. We will go over creating a texture to use as a displacement in the compositor and we will also go over animating the texture so that you can create an animation of your scene. I'll also show you how to create a simple mask so that the effect does not appear in the foreground, only the background.

I hope you guys enjoy this tutorial and learn something new. Thanks for watching!

I've been using Blender for quite a while now. I love Blender and its my passion, that is why I try to share everything I know about it with you guys. There is so much that Blender can do. It is not just a tool for 3D modelling, it can be used for photo editing, animating, and creating games as well. Over the years, I have explored Blender's capabilities and pushed them to the limit, and now I'm here to share those tricks with you. ;)

Yes that is a great idea to use the z pass! This will only work though if you are rendering out a scene in Blender. If you just have a still image you would not be able to do so. Thanks again!
