Learn more about the Hair Tool Add-on by JoseConse.

JoseConseco developed a nice addon for Blender to create low/medium poly hair models. The tool uses the behavior of industry standard tools and bring them to blender.
It's like he said a bit pricey, but I think worth it. Check it out on gumroad.
More information about his addon is available here.

Amazing tool for character artists.
I think 30$ is quite fine for a professional plugin which saves you a lot of time. If it saves you one hour, it has already paid itself off.
Yep, I am totally with you. The price is totally fine for professinal use, but for hobbyist and students, its maybe a bit pricey.
But totally worth it.
Completely agree.
Can this be used to style and create particle hair for a model?
As far as I know, this is not possible, because Blender is not able to convert curves to (particle) strands.
The Blender Particle System is advanced, but no comparison to other system like the Maya built-in tools. In Maya you can import curves and generate strands on top - in the case you aren't attached to Blender, this could be a option for you.
Maybe this wasn't the case when you posted this on August 10, but right now his website says it can generate particle hair based on curves.
After much deliberation, I decided to pick this one up. Sure, $30 isn't free. But you know what? This is dang good work and will be/is a time saver. Once I fully figure out how to use it that is!
Once I get things figured out I'll probably write up a little review for it. But so far it's promising!
How does one install this? I bought it and can't get it to work in the latest version of blender (I tried copying it to scripts/addons with no luck, and then installing each file via the install from file, but nothing still shows in my Blender).
Took me 10 seconds to find his contact form ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Oh I've tried that, with no answer (for weeks). I even started a brand new install of the latest Blender, following instructions left on another website, with no luck. I just don't get how anyone is able to get this to work (I can't get it to show up in tools or in modifiers).
Hmm, not getting support sucks :-/ I have his email address on file - I'll forward your question.
Hi Kelly, I can see (from your post on my blog) that you solved your problem. I can't find any question from you, for support, , earlier than 12 hours ago (or maybe they went into spam by accident)? I usually reply in less than one day.
Ah, nevermind -- I figured out what stupid thing I was doing (or, rather, not doing -- I kept looking in addons alphabetically, not realizing it had also the modifier type in front of the name. So Hair wasn't in the place I thought it should be -- closer examination revealed it and once activated it now works).
I bought it, and was very disappointed. it was full of bugs :(
I wrote to the author, the answer was immediate, he gave me support of the errors he saw, he was using the program incorrectly (due to my bad English) an excellent addon.
//Escribí al autor, la respuesta fue inmediata, me dio soporte de los errores que veia, estaba usando de forma incorrecta el programa (debido a mi mal ingles) un addon exelente.
so, how do I install this? 1.9.3 version blender 2.79b
Davide, install it just like any other addon: https://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/1688/installing-an-addon
I am very curious: does the plugin support 2.8? I want to buy it, but going back with Blender version sounds like a bad idea. Any clues guys?
The port to 2.8 is almost ready. But there is bug in blender 2.8 https://developer.blender.org/T58734 that devs, have problem fixing. So i'm waiting for them. But there will be free update for cutomers of Hair Tool.
Thanks mate, I will be waiting. Not sure if dev is watching the thread but it would've been wonderful if he would've announced that it is 2.8 ready (I'd hate to miss that one)
Plead add free :(
