I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

      • If there are any bugs in the RC, would it affect the PC? sorry for my lack of tech knowledge. Also what should I do if my PC recommended that I shouldn't open 2.79 RC?

        • no, the program will just crash or simply not work properly.

open it anyway. that's likely just one of those default "we don't know what this is only open it if you trust the source" recommendations. which if the people who added that into the OS were honest about would have to be asked in front of opening every program.

        • There is absolutely no chance that the Release Candidate will actually harm your PC, even though it may (and probably will) contain bugs. You can safely use it, but stick with an earlier version if you're working on a project that's intended for production.

  1. So far, so good. Rendering out an animation for a comp I'm working on. Principled shader performs well, though there's an overall performance boost when rendering with cycles (that might just be the principled shader replacing my janky PBR shader implementation :3) and filmic is also great :D
