This very short video looks adorable - I love the paper look.

Hi!
Blender was the main program in this project. We've made several videos for projection in a puppet theater. This video shows how we solved the main scene. We use Blender Render Internal and Blender Game Engine tools, create everything with the idea of to render in real time.
Clouds and beams were added in After Effects.Waiting for EEVEE !! :)
If you want to see more of our work, this is our website: Mimicbox.es

We are very happy that you like this video and the reel.
Really, thank you very much for your comment.
Cool scene. I love it when 2D plates are used to make interesting animations in Blender.
Thank you!
We hope to show more projects that mix these techniques soon. :)

How much time did you spend on the pre-production? Great work!
It took us a day to get a basic sketch of the scene. I wanted an easy control of the sea because the videos were very long. Then we focus on solving concrete things.
What we spent more time was in resolving the way in which a wave made of cutouts had to come to camera. We finally solved it as shown in the video. For this animation we use Commotion. Essential addon! Thank you Mikhail Rachinskiy.

Oh! The light. We could not light from the bottom of the scene because the layers of the sea remain dark (it seems obvious, but we did not think about this until we had the problem). But that is another story... :)
Thanks for comment!
Your welcome. I might try some of these idea's out! What inspired this story? I think the mimic box came from "Dungeons & Dragons" and I believe I've seen it in some of Final Fantasy or games. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimic_(Dungeons_%26_Dragons)
I just also realized it's your branding, I should probably read your about page. lol :)
jajaja. Exactly! Mimic Box is our brand, and yes! it refers to what you say. :)
