Are you excited about the new viewport currently being in development for Blender 2.8 called Eevee? So am I. It started with just one or two videos testing out the new materials. I then recorded a episode where I talked while exploring the features.

The feedback from our wonderful community has only been overwhelmingly positive, so I have invested myself in doing these videos until Blender 2.8 is released.

So if you have better things to do with your time than constantly download nightly builds, I think these videos can be perfect for you.

I'll try to keep the videos short, and any idea rants I have to a bare minimum. Thanks to all the developer especially Clément Foucault & Dalai Felinto. I am Martin Lindelöf and I will drop you off at episode 6, but there are older episodes you can watch, I've sorted them in a playlist.

  1. I don't normally get excited for new features but the Eevee engine is really hitting my hype buttons. It looks really good and and real time. Also finally some decent volumetric lighting

    • I've always been a release junkie, for me this is as big as 2.5 or Cycles was. It for sure gonna be a game changer. Real time volumetrics are incredible. And there are so much more great stuff left, just to mention some of them.

Refraction = glass! As in glass shader in cycles, normal maps gonna look amazing once it refracts the environment.

Screen Space Reflections, more reflections, I guess this one works without probes. It's just using the current view angle.

Clustered Forward Rendering = insane amount of lights. And I guess it will speed up scenes with few lights also since it's calculating for each pixel which lights it needs to render.

Sub Surface Scattering, realistic humans skin in real time.

So it will be awesome all the way through August, it's incredible that Clément has been able to implement all this as such as paste and besides that, during the summer months.
