Here's a 'holographic UI' experiment that I liked.

Is there a way to achieve this holographic effect in blender? I was searching a way to do that in blender for some specific motion graphic projects. Cycles doesn't fit for this - the rendering time does not fit a working pipeline for motion graphics (in AE the render is real fast as far as I know - I don't use it myself), the nearest way I've found is some halo and volume materials in internal (for all the motion graphics in blender I use internal, of course), maybe someone have a good experience with this kind of effects in blender? Hopping Eevee will solve some things for motion graphics...
If you are trying to get effects like this right out of the render engine, nothing is going to be fast. As a starting point one has to think how to render layers that can be composited with effects like bloom, transparency, etc..
