A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to provide some full cg shots for Clark's peak magnetic from the recent album Death Peak [now out on Warp records].
The concept of the video is based on a motion control camera rig that revolves around an elevated platform with 2 dancers performing a choreographic narrative on it.
I tracked the camera movement in Blender, cleaned up the curves and modeled the sand sculptures, based on the footprint drawings left by the dancers.
The sand shader was created in Substance Designer and ported to Blender by Oday Salih Abozaid and then modified by me to fit the scene.
I did not have time to make proper hdrs on set, but I took texture photos of the softboxes and lit the scene with that, which worked surprisingly well.
Compositing was done in After Effects.
