Eevee Animation: SciFi Elevator

14

I can't get enough of Eevee demonstrations - here's an OpenGL render of a SciFi platform.

Hi anyone, i've been playing with Eevee in the last few days, and just finished a scifi platform/elevator animation.

I had to use opengl render but the result is not bad at all... huge thanks to the devs for the fantastic job they're doing!

    • the animation is 450 frames long and i think it took about a few second for each frame (10-15 minutes for all of them) on my old gtx260, i'd expect a new gpu to be way faster than this... when i played it in blender the fps count was about 8-9 but it's an old gpu... without opengl rendering it would never be so smooth on my machine...

last but not least, thanks BN team for sharing!!!

      • This is truly revolutionary. It's what I always wanted to be able to do with Cycles preview mode in the 3D viewport, but couldn't. And so fast - 50 frames in 10 seconds.

It's a realtime engine, so it sholud take approx the same time of the sequence duration, eg. if my animation is 30s long, I'd expect the total rendertime to be around 30 seconds! plus the neglectible time it takes to write the files to the hard disk.

On a joke note, the thing I actually already get enough of is the abuse of bloom! Ok it's cool to have something we never had before but... Gosh!, is this it gonna be like the abuse of lens filter in blender artists portfolios? ;)

    • Lsscpp i agree with you 100%, i used way too much bloom :-)! next time i'll be more conservative, a tiny amount is great but i really overused it this time

on my machine it took longer than that to render, old hardware... and i have no idea which impact the encoding has, i saved the animation in mp4 h264 directly rather than create a bunch of still images and then make the video later

  2. Nice video as it is you don't need to change a thing. Your creative idea comes through clearly. You have done a good job in demonstrating some of the capabilities of Eevee. I have played with the light probes and such, but your concept shows what a little imagination can do with these new feature blender will soon be bringing to the table. Good job nice work and keep pluging away
