First of all special thanks to Andrew Price, Zacharias Reinhardt, Lukas Walzer and Paul Siedler for the constant feedback, you guys are awesome.

Lately I've been spending too long on my daily job and my personal projects have been holded for quite a while.. A whole year without making any idea of mine, can you believe that? So I decided to refresh my portfolio again with my personal taste.

The main reason of this project was to stress test the wonders of my new rig: 128gb of ram along 4x 1080ti and 2x Titan XP. The results were amazing: this scene have roughly 220 million polygons and lots of 16 and 32k textures at 16bit.. The trees and plants are all 3d models, the only backdrop is the mountain at the end of the road which is a photograph I took during one of my trips last year. The viewport was so smooth..

In the other hand I wanted to improve and challenge myself at nature which to me, is one of the most intimidating subjects when it comes to CG.

Enjoy!

Wow, this is A-MA-ZING!! can't believe this is not a photograph... It isn't a photograph now is it???? :)

Great piece of Art (yes, with capital A)

  2. Saw this image in artstation last weekend and was wondering how much it would take to be here. This image is absolutely unbelievable.

  3. What is this?
once I saw this image I knew I have seen this image before... Yes, a few months back I saw this image in Unsplash.

so what are we talking about?
Sebastian made some color adjustments but that's it, this same adjustment can be made in any software like photoshop.

Can Sebastian claim this image as his creation?
even that Unsplash do not require attribution
I do not thing one can claim full creation rights on something one just perform minor cosmetic work.

so is this a great work by Sebastian
or a great fake by Sebastian?

    • That he got inspired by this picture, does not mean its fake (even if he doesn't took it himself)! It is a very impressive work. All the screenshots and the video are proof enough that this is not some 'minor Photosop work' but a very good Blender recreation (with some minor Photoshop post processing). If you would compare your Screenshots carefully, you could see this on them as well.
Why are you insinuate this without proof?

      I think it's awsome Work!

  4. 1) I just saying I recognized the image right away.

    2) I am not hateting on Sebastian in any personal way, if he can make this kind of almost perfect nature artwork, that it's awesome work and bad ass talent.

    3) the screen shots do not show in any way the trees are 3d models

If all this are true 3d models
Then I will be amazed and congratulate Sebastian for an outstanding work.

This was not a hate or bs intentional comment, it was a concidence that I hve seen the original image before and I expressed my opinion.
