Here's a technique that allows you to transform HDR images to a model that allows a (limited) amount of navigation inside it.

Hi everyone, last week I've found a nice trick to project 360 on geometry. So I've decided to record my first ever video tutorial to show you how to model from hdr/360° pictures.
The video is in french but I've added English subtitles and it's easy to follow.
Next time I'll record in English, promise !
happy blending

Awesome technique, I´ve been scratching my head for a long time on how to achieve this, thanks!
Very interesting, thanks
Thanks man :) I tried it several times, but without success. Reason? I tried use texture coordinates of another object like empty. That is not working. So I thought Environment texture can't be use in material. Probably time to post it as a bug or request feature?
It seems to me more practical if textured object can keep his coordinates, technically it doesn't seems to be a problem.
VKLIDU , using an other object works, but in Cycles only, not the viewport.
ISCREAM, thanks, I will try to post it as a bug.
OK, reported in hope :)
