While mainly a bugfix release (with 50+ fixes), Krita 3.1.3 manages to add a few new features too: you can now set a pivot/center point for scaling, it has a new context menu and you can open multiple copies of Krita at the same time.
Today we’re proud to release Krita 3.1.3. A ton of bug fixes, and some nice new features as well! Dmitry and Boud have taken a month off from implementing Kickstarter features to make Krita 3.1.3 as good and solid as we could make it. Thanks to all the people who have tested the alpha, the beta and the release candidate! Thanks to all the people who have worked on translations, too, and to Alexey Samoilov for picking up the maintenance of the Ubuntu Lime PPA.
We also have a new version of the Windows explorer integration plugin, that makes it possible to show thumbnails of .kra and .ora files: several memory leaks were fixed, and a conflict with .ora files created by an Oracle database too was resolved. Thanks to Alvin Wong!
New Features
- scale around pivot point added
- implement context menu actions for default tool (cut, copy, paste, object ordering)
- added option to allow multiple instances of krita (BUG 377199)
The full list of changes with 50+ bug fixes can be found in the full release notes.

what is krita tho
open source image manipulation software.
It has a lot photoshop-like features, thanks to their kickstarter approach to software development. (People can suggest features and pay for it, once enough dough has been put together, the features are implemented.)
It is more a drawing/painting application than image manipulation. And in drawing and painting it is far superior if compared to Photoshop.
I'd say its more like Corel Painter rather than Photoshop in that Krita is designed for actual drawing/artists rather than photo manipulation like Photoshop is...
krita is image editor alternative. (free)
can save mode RGB & CMYK.
output file jpg is better size than gimp jpg.
Krita is beauty in FOSS form.
A bit like Corel Painter meets Sketchbook Pro.
A steady rate of growth; very focused development.
"Krita" also means "crayon" in Swedish or something.
