I'm a fan of this render, the colors and lighting suit the image very well. Moreover, I like the details put into this, even the hand-prints and dust are not neglected! Also for some reason the image calms me down.
Do you guys play any instruments, if so which ones?

  1. Very well done!! What a great image, regardless of the creator's age (but which makes it even more spectacular). Beautiful work! Looks as though a promising career awaits! Congratulations!

  2. Nicely done! You show exceptional talent and artistry at an early age. I look forward to seeing where you go from here.

As a violinist, I am extremely familiar with the ins and outs of the instrument and have yet to see an accurate violin render. This one is very close (and looks fantastic). The composition and lighting is beautiful. The following suggestions may be completely unnecessary as they will likely only be noticed by other violinists and may not contribute to the overall beauty of the render. So, take my comments for what they are -- nitpickings from a violinist who would love to see a highly accurate violin render at some point :)

I you are interested in spending more time on the image to enhance the accuracy (I realize you may not be), here are some tips that may help:

    1. The top of a violin is always made from spruce, which has a very close grain and little variation.
    2. The strings should vary in thickness with the left most string being the thickest and the rightmost string being the thinnest. The 2nd string from the left in your image is approximately the right thickness for that string.
    3. The bridge (the thin wooden piece that supports the strings) should taper so it is thickest at the base and thinner at the top.
    4. The end pin (sticking out of the bottom of the instrument), should look like a lathe-turned piece and will often have a small ball approx. 2.5mm diameter at the end.
    5. The strings are too close together when the cross the nut (the white piece the strings cross over before going into the peg box). At this spacing, it would be impossible to place your fingers on just one string at a time.
    6. The scroll of the violin is a very specific shape. Of course, it is fairly complex and would potentially be time consuming to model accurately. I would look for side view and overhead views for reference.
    7. Lastly, the top and back of a violin body should have a row of purfling that goes all the way around the edge of the instrument.

Again, well done! You are very talented. I hope my suggestions on how to improve the accuracy (not necessarily the beauty) of the image will be of interest to you. Thanks for sharing, congratts on being featured, and happy blending!

    • Thank you xD I'm not familiar with the violin so I didn't know much of how it should look other than from the references I was using. I will keep these things in mind if I want to remake this later :)

  3. As someone who isn't an expert on violins, to me it looks like a photograph and not an image created in Blender.
So if this isn't a real violin, great job, fooled me.
