We're in the last 48 hours of our Kickstarter campaign for my VFX-heavy sci-fi short SKYWATCH. I've been thrilled by the support + reaction online. Thank you to all who have been a part of its success so far!
I'm hoping we can push to meet our stretch goal of 45K, which will help us shoot an ambitious opening sequence, and have been putting together some materials to help us drum up more support.
I wanted to share two videos with the readers of BlenderNation. The first is an early "story reel" / animatic for a commercial concept that could be a nice way to open our film. This was our first exploration - it's changed significantly - but I thought it'd be interesting to share, to give a peek into our early development process.
The second video I think is pretty cool for anyone who's interested in compositing or visual effects in general. My VFX supervisor Sandro Blattner is a Compositing Supervisor at Method Studios (working most recently on Guardians of the Galaxy 2) - and is an absolute wizard in Nuke.
Even though Blender features only briefly in this breakdown (the tubes and the glowing "distributor" on the rooftop are assets made in Blender), I thought it'd still be informative and interesting for people:
