Greg Zaal's 'Gaffer' light manager add-on now has an optimised HDRI management module.
Hey there!
I'm happy to announce the newest release of Gaffer, my lighting manager add-on for Blender. This new version adds a robust HDRI manager, allowing you to quickly switch between your HDR environment maps and adjust brightness, rotation, warmth, etc. all with a simple and intuitive interface. No need to fiddle with any nodes or wait for thumbnails of giant files to load.
One click away is an automatically generated JPG background for up to 4x memory savings, with an optional darkened JPG to retain specular highlights in reflections.
For this first week of the new release, it's on sale for 25% off.
Have a nice day :)
Greg

Hi Greg, love the scene you've used in this, saw Jonathan's tutorial on this a while back and absolutely love it!
Thanks :) I'm not sure which tutorial you're referring to, but I did upload this scene (or an old version of it) to Blendswap, so maybe Jonathan used that :)

It's also a mishmash of other people's work (originally http://www.blendswap.com/blends/view/73277 ), so maybe that's also what you're thinking of.
