The Last King – VFX Breakdown

Hi everyone.
Here is a VFX breakdown from the Norwegian feature film “The Last King” that we worked on last year.
VARG Studios delivered over 100 FX shots for the film. The shots varied from snow and fog effects to ski replacement and cleanup.
Blender is our primary 3D software and an important part of our pipeline at the studio. For this film we used Blender to simulate and render all the snow and smoke effects for close to 70 VFX shots.
Pretty cold out there, a lot of snow :) Great job. Really impressive.

Thanks for sharing this. It´s interessting to see, how VARG Studios used Blender in this movie and also it´s great to read, that it is used in a professionla environment and to see this good results. Not that Blenderuserers would know the power of the program, but you know…. good to see, that it get´s used in the professional field more often than some years ago.

I remember watching this in the cinema. Great job, a lot of the shots are subtle but they gave the atmosphere needed for the movie. Especially with as little snow as we have had lately :P
