Another impressive one-man animation project.
"PAPERTHIN Rebels follows the events in the life of Detective China Nnamdi after he received a mysterious email from an unknown source. In chapter we go deeper into the events that took place in Chapter 1."
My name is Agu Rex UD. I am 25 years old and i live in Nigeria. I love story telling so much that I left college in my 3rd year (2013) to pursue it.
I chose animation as the medium to tell my stories. I tried Photorealistic Rendering but I found it very tasking and impossible to complete with a month so I switch to Non Photorealistic Rendering which was a great fit for me since I used to make 2d animations.
Before I started using Blender I used a lot of different software packages eg Maya, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, Modo, Lightwave and Poser.
They had there own special strengths and weaknesses but Blender was the middle ground. It had a steep learning curve but very customizable and very supportive community.
I started using Blender seriously early 2015. I didn't have enough money to pay for online courses I watched YouTube tutorials and learnt from them.
The biggest challenge for this project was the fight scene. Every frame of the fight was hand posed to get the best motion since it was in 12fps. Animating in 12fps cut the render time in half and it making production faster for me.
PAPERTHIN Rebels is actually a back story of a future project I plan on making. I hope to upload a new episode of PAPERTHIN Rebels every month while I upload short tutorials, animations or Work In Process every Wednesday.
I started my YouTube channel (LionX Animations) to build an audience that will hopefully support one of my Big Projects eg;
- RUN (a 30 minutes or more animation )
- Nanocosm (a series with 10 minutes long episodes)
Most animations I am currently making are warm up projects for these Big Projects.
I hope to improve my animation and story telling skills in the process.
