Johnson Martin is back with another quick topology tutorial - creating a chamfered circle (like on the tip of a pencil).
This time I’m going to show how to model a chamfered circle. I spent a fair bit of time on this one, trying to find a simple method for modeling the shape, and I think i found the simplest one. It’s not ideal (a few ngons), but the other methods I’ve found to be overly complex with too little pay off. Let me know if you have an even better method, because I’d love to see it.

Love the website, I suggested we have examples in the blender reference manual but the idea was shot down, this sounds like a good place for that. Now all we need is a Blender Exam for each chapter.
Thanks, my goal is to create a kind of "hub" for Blender modeling knowledge. I hoping to bring on some other contributors at some point as well. For things I'm less knowledgeable about.
Nice!
Once upon a time I created (in Italian) a similar tutorial. It is still hosted here: http://www.webalice.it/marcoalici/tmp/Matita_MarcoA.zip
Using the knife tool, the It should give a geometrically more accurate shape, imho...
