BGMC 22 Project: UnderTow

7

This looks like the type of game I might enjoy!

The theme was exploration and the entire game was created in less than 7 days for BGMC 22 (blender game making challenge 22). We also managed to package the whole thing into only 70mb standalone (39mb of which are game files). I had heaps of fun creating this game and hopefully people will enjoy playing it as well!

Stay Inspired!

  1. Nice! Looks like a ton of effort for 7 days - definitely see the BioShock inspiration. Were all the assets made in that 7 day period?

And did you two just do any task that needed to be done next, or did you two divide yourselves into specialized roles?

    • Thanks! Yes, it was a lot of fun! I think technically it was actually only about 6ish days, Grenzer created a simple level and (being a massive bioshock fan) I offered to help out.

The majority of the assets were made within this period however some items (like benches, chairs etc.) was licensed under cc0 and were added to the game as well.

Collaboration was a bit difficult, the dropbox folder is a complete mess, but we eventually sorted it out. Basically Grenzer created the first 2 basic level outlines and the last 2 levels. I just put lots of work into the mechanics/HUD and populated the first 2 levels with puzzles and assets.

      • Yeah, I just tried running it on linux and it didn't work either.
Maybe I'll look into providing builds for other platforms!

You can start the game by opening the 'mainmenu' .blend, go to the render panel and start standalone player!
Note: Due to a bug in Blender 2.78a, the first scene will crash so its recommended you use another version (we used 2.75)

  2. Awesome game! i had to cheat a bit because i had the wrong version of blender so it was buggy but that's my fault. It's awesome to see something like this made in such a short time.
