  1. An intriguing and interesting tutorial, but - in my opinion - somewhat overwhelming and daunting for absolute beginners. In any case an interesting overview for people who try working with Blender already a little bit longer.

  2. Thanks for the crit, MXD. Let me know if there's anything I can explain in another video or elsewhere to help you or anyone you know who might be struggling with the material!

  3. How do you get the options displayed around the cursor for things like switching modes and shader views? Ie, when you press TAB or Z, you see a circular set of the different options...

    • Sure thing, go up to the header bar at the top of the viewport and select File, then User Preferences, then click the Add-ons tab, then type "pie menus" without quotes in the search field. Then click the little checkbox next to Pie Menu: UI Pie Menu Official. Then click Save User Settings at the bottom.

After that, whenever you hold down the Tab key, you can swipe to whatever mode you want. You can also hold down the Z key, and swipe to change stuff. The Pie Menu is great and speeds up your workflow.

I hope that helps. Let me know if you need any other help!

Edit.. You can learn more about the Pie Menu and other menus here: https://www.blender.org/manual/interface/controls/buttons/menus.html

  4. Trying to "relearn" Blender again and this tutorial has been a lot of fun. I could not find the image files mentioned in the tutorial - I created my own images for the board and planchette, but need the Chelsea_stairs_8k to continue. Am I missing a link?

    • Hey, thanks, I'm glad you enjoy it! Links to the image files are in the description under the video. Make sure you're watching it on YouTube or you won't see that. Just click the "Show More" button under the video and it'll reveal more links and such. Let me know if you have any problems!

      • I was watching the video embedded in the BlenderNation.com page - not through YouTube. Once I switched to YouTube, the "Show More" button was visible and I found the files. Thanks for your help -- I look forward to your completing your other tutorials.
