Hey fellow Blenderheads,
I just wanted to share my most recent experience using Blender for producing a commercial/explainer animation.
I just recently started working on Upwork and was lucky to find a few jobs rather quickly. If you are unfamiliar with the website, it's basically an ''employment agency'' where you can apply for jobs and be reviewed by your customers AND vice versa. It IS a bit expensive -> 20% for the first 500$ for EACH client, but it enabled me to find good customers and helps me grow a business (after at least 4 years of learning solo). I am currently on the lookout for cheaper sites such as ''Hubstaff Talents'' which is entirely for free, but works quite differently also.
Here are two of the latest videos I made using Blender Internal to be efficient enough in time and quality:
I hope you found this post helpful and that maybe you can start working on a few jobs yourself via Upwork, Freelancer or even Hubstaff Talent or else.
I am also writing a post on my website about my experience and update it when I got more information regarding different websites and opportunities. Here's my website: www.moonman-pictures.com
Best wishes,
The MoonMan

thanks for sharing that information, I think it will help! Also, wow, seriously cool work.
cool do you mind telling how much you took foran amaing job like that ?
Hey ACH,
I took 18 $ / hour. I had a really good client though. Be careful what you sign up for. Some jobs/people are very exploitative.
Thanks for the information man :D but it is clearly took to much time like 2 or 3 week if not more right ?
Really amazing work and really useful information, thank you.
Also nice integration of the xbox notification sound in there ;)
Great stuff, BI is not dead!
Nice work. You can and should charge more.
I would suggest $50/hr or more. An agency would easily charge $100-$200 per hour for a project like this, with the total coming in no less than $3,000 (and possibly as much as $10,000).
I speak from experience working for a couple of such agencies and now working on my own doing almost exclusively 3D work in Blender.
Be confident, you are a skilled worker doing highly technical and artistic work.
Congratulations on a job well done. I hope to see more from you in the future.

could you explain how you did the typing graphics? is that a video texture on a plane, or is it actually dynamic in blender?
