Create a Neuron in Blender

I work as a TV news video editor and use Blender to supplement the footage in news stories. Recently I needed to illustrate how the brain is affected by drug use. So I quickly made an animated neuron, that fires electrical impulses through the brain. Unfortunately the animation hasn’t been used yet however I made a tutorial so that everyone can pick up the little UV mapping trick I exploited.

I hope you don’t mind revisiting the 80’s as that seemed to be the most suitable music ;-)
