Tangent Animation presents the trailer of their feature-length movie 'Ozzy' (they showed large parts of it at the Blender Conference too - amazing work). In addition, they made a LONG video called 'Making Ozzy' in which they talk in detail about how they're now using Blender for their work.
I'm very excited about this, and will try to do an in-depth interview with them soon. Is there anything you're particularly interested in about this project? Leave a comment and we'll include the best questions!

Awesome! You don't see too many Blender feature-length films.
The Warcraft movie was used Blender for the production of the character Murloc
From what I saw, it was just a part of just one shot, I don't really know if I could justify that as a "Blender feature-length", it's more of a feature-length that kind-of-happened to use Blender. I'm talking about it being used as a major production workhorse, like Plumiferos.
REAVENK yes you are totally right!
Superb! They don't specifically name-check Cycles but I assume that's what they used for Rendering? Perhaps they used the Renderman plugin?
Good question! I'll be sure to ask them, thanks :)
In the making I see Blender Internal :O
not sr you´re wrong they are using cycles watch it carefully
I am simply speechless.
This is a huge step forward for Blender name in Cinema production feature film. Great, great and GREAT!
I wish you all guys the best and all the success you deserve!
Ask if they're hiring! Just kidding (sort of). I'd like to know how they choose which project to go forward with. I'm sure they have a bunch of ideas, there's a whole room full of creative people there. But how do they go from a few cool sketches to arranging financing and starting seriously digging in?
Id love to know more about what tools they created for Blender and if they made it back into Master?
I'd love to know more about what tools they created for Blender and if they made it back into the software?
Tangent Animation, Thank you for what you are doing for Blender!
The movie looks amazing!
in my opinion,,,,,´They are very smart and clever!
they choose to use for Production the most Inovative -open- and most powerfull 3d Programm in the World "Blender 3D" with the fastest Development Speed and best Community!......and of course with the best User Interface!!!
by the way i find a new name for Blender,,,,,,"SwiissFork 3D"
I do have 2 questions: When will it premier and where can I watch it?
Looks (and sounds) fantastic! ..and looks like a great story too!
I can see they are using blender internal for render. It would be a good question to know how they choose internal over cycles and why ;)
Another interesting question i should do them is if thisbis the first project they made with blender and if is it, what software they ised before and why change to blender.
Wow! thank you for sharing, I love watching studio work as a team to produce something great. Makes for a amazing story. I hope to be part of a team like that as well.
Nice review I found on youtube, just a confusion in the movie studio :)p

I love crazy people :)
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the conference they mentioned some very exciting contributions they made to cycles - which they used - and that they are at the moment in touch with the Blender Devs to get commit rights. Once that is granted, they can submit this as patches so everyone can computer and test these features. AOV passes and light groups to name two. Bart, could you ask them about the status of this?
A lot of their patches have been available for some time already.
AOV passes and light groups are being worked on. the notes from the cycles meeting should be posted in the coming days.
What happened to the "Making Ozzy" video link? I am getting the Vimeo message "Sorry, because of it's privacy settings , this video cannot be played here". Was this a link to the presentation at the Blender Conference or Tangents' own making of video? Please relink it!
Hrmpf, good question! It was their own making of video. I'll contact them and ask to get it back online.
Any news on what happened to the making of ?
I've emailed several times, but didn't get a reply yet. I'll keep trying!
