2D game assets out of 3d models - The catapult animation

0

Indie game studio Hammer&Ravens games shares some of their workflow.

Hi guys,

our main 3d guy, George, is producing endless assets for our Empires in Ruins game. Even though we are making a simil-isometric 2d game, all of our our assets and animations are produced as 3d ones in Blender.

Once rigged and animated, George is then rendering them out, building up spritesheets out of them, and we then use them straight away in the game. This is a workflow video of him animating our first artillery, the catapult.

We also have few other tutorials in our channel about the same assets, we hope you can find them useful!

Cheers,
Emiliano, H&R
