Video Addons for Blender

Björn Sonnenschein is maintaining an overview of the best Blender addons for video editing.

Blender provides a powerful sequencer that can be used for serious video editing. However, compared to a modern non-linear video editor, Blender lacks some important features, for instance there is no way to preview video files and trim them before adding them to the timeline.

Over the time, some addons were developed with the aim to enhance the video editing experience when using Blender, but some of them can only be found in some old forum threads.

In order to make those addons more accessible, I have started a Github repository as a centralized way to access those plugins. It is intended to be a collection of those addons I am contributing code to, but if you have written or found another useful video related addon, please feel free to drop me a message in the comments. I am happy to link it on the project page!

Have fun with that,

  1. A small suggestion to Bjorn: When describing visual tools, use a few pictures.

Using verbal descriptions without pictures, to describe visual tools, is sadder than kittens left out in the rain.

    Slight complaint aside, thanks. ☺

  2. Sun tools movie manager sets timeline to cut footage fps, overwriting the main timeline's fps, every time a cut is added. Have a 24fps main project timeline, add in a movie manager clip that is 30fps, main project becomes 30fps , throwing all tracks out of whack. Would be good if the project's original set fps stuck when using movie manager clips.
