Particle Instantiator turns particles into real objects

4

Particle Instantiator will add a ton of options to particle system animations, including rigid body physics, modifiers, drivers and animation copying.

Blender’s particle system is known to be somewhat limited. While you can simulate large numbers of particles, animating individual particles can be difficult.

With the Particle Instantiator add-on, you can turn your particles into real objects. These objects follow the exact motion of the particles using keyframes and copy animations, constraints, modifiers, drivers and custom properties from their dupli objects. And the coolest feature is this: you can turn your particles into physics objects.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Well, this sure explains a lot! I was wondering why my add-on got so popular all of a sudden...

I'm happy to announce this post and the video link are outdated already, because I just released version 1.1 of the add-on. There are some new features, an improved UI and it is now compatible with my other add-ons.

  2. I've been waiting for this functionality since Blender transitioned from 2.49b to 2.5.

Some of the features shown in the video were present in 2.49b
