    What is the benefit for this to not allow using for example Photoshop? I understand that it's Blender 3D contest, but you still need some other software to edit your textures / post processing the render. I can't improve my skills if I'm forced using Gimp.

      Well post processing can be done in Blender. I just don't want people to use Photoshop because then it is not an equal playing field for everyone, and some people will have a slight advantage over others.
