Video: Asteroids in real Life

Haha, I'm definitely "old" enough to remember playing this game! :) Another great SottoZen production.

Hi guys,

here we are with another video all made in Blender! This took us a month of work and we had so much fun making this: it's a tribute to one of the top five best Arcade games ever! If you are "old" enough to ever played this videogame when you were a child... you know what we are talking about!

Some words about us: we are a small team made up by friends.

About one year ago we decided to put together our skills and passions for video, 3D and VFX and we opened our YouTube channel.

We are at the beginning but we are very happy and proud to see that our fan base is constantly expanding. Our target is to one day have enough incoming from our channel to let us do this like a full time job! (For now we're spending more on the project than we're earning!)

A special thank to this community because it supported us since our very first video. We are going to make a BTS very soon, showing how we make the VFX!

Have a great day and any comment or critic are welcome...

  1. I love it! The idea is cool and enough simple so it is easy to get. Most blender movies has too complex idea and they fall in their own cleverness. This works!

  2. Now I know that I'm old enough !

BTW very funny and cool video, I enjoyed the other ones you made as well !
In this one maybe the 3D part of the shots needed a bit of more compo love to make it less CG-ish, more filmic , in fact you already did the hardest part, it's not that much to make things a bit more dirty. And there is already some cool compo / FX involved. The lighting and edit work very well and feel professional !

That said , making all this in a month is quite a challenge , so I'm maybe a bit too optimistic and critical...
Congrats to the team and keep up the good work !

  3. Thank you all guys for the good words. We know we have a lot to learn and that our videos have to be improved a way more.

SOZAP, you are so right and i don't want to justify myself but, you all know very well, putting togheter a short video is really a huge team work! You have to know a little bit of everything and a little bit of something always is missing, no matter what we do! I hate this but it's what i see in our works :)

The most beautiful thing i learnt making videos fo youtube is to accept my limits and continue. As an "3D Artist" i would never show something to people unless i feel confortably and happy about it and this, in my life, never happened.
But working together is better. It's a little "Zen" here but i believe that doing and having fun will make you better and better with the time.

I hope that my poor English was good enough to explain my feelings :)

Again, thanks to all of you for your support !!

    • Dear Reavenk, thanks for this. I didnt know about this and just watched on youtube a compilation of Wilhem screams in cinema history! Just funny!

  4. great video, loved Asteroids back then.

Has to be said though: after the joystick broke off I expected him to hit the 'warp' button!
