Hi all,

Here are the notes from today's 14:00 UTC meeting in irc.freenode.net #blendercoders.

1) Blender 2.78 release

2) Other projects and Blender 2.8

  • Blender Institute is still talking with potential candidates for a full time job
on 2.8 work (in Amsterdam). No news.
  • Mike Erwin is planning to be in Amsterdam 2nd half of September. Ton Roosendaal checks on organising a 'sprint' or workshop to freeze the specs for Viewport.

3) Google Summer of Code

  • All mentors and students have delivered their final reports. Overview here.
  • Tomorrow Google will inform students whether they've passed the final term!
  • Thomas Dinges volunteers to write a code.blender.org blog GSoC summary for all students.

Thanks,

-Ton-

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
