The Blender Institute has provided Netflix with HDR footage of Cosmos Laundromat. US users can now watch the movie on Netflix!
A few weeks ago Blender Institute provided Netflix (makers of House of Cards, Orange is the New Black) with the raw renders of Cosmos Laundromat, so that they could do an “HDR” grading. This was done using 16bit images, on high-end monitors. Once graded, the film can be watched on HDR screens.
Last week Ton visited Netflix in their Los Gatos (CA) headquarters and got a preview of the edit, which was mind-blowing! We are going to share more info (and possibly the graded files themselves).
Bonus: Cosmos Laundromat is now available on Netflix (USA for the moment)!

I really want an HDR display! It's insane we have viewing options for technologies which are not yet widespread.
Boom !! Door opening
Just watched it on Netflix. Man, does that render look good!
Is the ginger guy you Ton Roosendall?
BTW, it's just one day before it's anniversary.
I hope we see it turn into the series it was intended to be, I was left craving more (it was outstanding)..
I love blender
