Aldaris Beer Museum / Projection installation

Karlis Stigis writes:

Hello,

a while back we did quite a significant project for Aldaris beer museum and brewery.

Our task was to make 4 projections, each showing one of main beer ingredients –
Yeast, Hops, Grains and Water in abstract and sensual way.

The museum is in old brewery building and it still has those beautiful, old, empty kettles, so the videos are projected inside them as a representation of what was in there long, long time ago.

We use Blender as our main 3D tool for about 8 years now, and of course we used it in this project also. We made a few videos about making process and hope it will be interesting to you. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask them on our Behance page, project is there also.

If you like this and want to see more of our Blender work, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Behance.

Hops (see the rest of the videos on the project page)

Were the Grain particles also done in blender ? If so, did you use any addons ?

    Very impressed! amazing work

Also how on earth did you do the vines growing ? I have done things like that with Mayas paint FX but don't know anything that can do that too easily in blender!

      • Yeah, unfortunately there is no procedural way in blender to make things like that. Animation nodes maybe, but it probably would be very slow. It took me a lot of experimenting to figure that out, but the principle is actually very simple - a good model duplicated with array modifier, then particles on selected faces (flowers), then lattice deformer and then curve deform. When 1 vine is ready, it's actually quite easy to duplicate it and adjust the new path.
