My first post here: here is my entry for the Blenderguru Competition.

This character is based on one of my notebook drawings I drew in school. When I heard about the competition, I decided to research on pictures of real samurai warriors and took one of my drawings and remade and redesign it.  I made a lot of trial and error while making this image. I made a lot of poses and stick to one that I like.

The dragon texture on the katana blade, the Japanese kanji texture on his chest and the Japanese motif design on his right arm were drawn using pen and paper, scanned it using an old scanner, then refined it using GIMP and made PBR textures using Crazy Bump, I also created the fog textures using Gimp, the rest of the textures were downloaded online.

I did the modelling, materials, rendering and the rest on Blender.

I learned a lot while creating this image.
I hope you like it guys :)
