Blender was used to create the cover artwork for the March issue of EBioMedicine scientific journal.
EBioMedicine is a new journal created by publishers from Elsevier's Lancet and Cell scientific journals and it covers the entire breadth of translational and clinical research within all disciplines of life and health sciences.
The image shows an influenza virus with its surface proteins and therapeutic antibodies binding to the one of the proteins. This model is very detailed, down to single phospholipid molecules in the lipid bilayer. We employed Blender hair particles and the embedded Python Molecular Viewer (ePMV) addon to import protein structures from Protein Data Bank.
