  1. This could have been a useful video, but I gave up after about a minute due to the ridiculous music left playing in the background. What the hell is the point of making a video then drowning out your own voice with irritating music? Thomas Beck's 'Sneak Peek's are the ONLY way to present new features.

    • Apologies for that! I noticed the EQ depending on speaker/headphone type could have a bit of a different effect. Honestly I always had just my voice and footage, and was only keen to experiment here, so I appreciate the feedback! I usually like listening to videotutorials with my own Spotify music on in the background as well, so I hope the option makes up for the irritation. Hope you enjoy the video otherwise!

Thomas Beck is an awesome guy, was lucky enough to meet him while working on Sintel at a couple of Blender Conferences, really looking forward to this years Bconf :D

      Cheers,
      Lee

      • Thank you Lee, the no-music option is ideal. Your clear and concise delivery of the new Blender features is very useful - it doesn't deserve BBC obscure-the-dialogue production!

    • Aidy (from CG Masters as well) had been following these udpates and helped me translate how it works in Blender. I had some experience at a games studio with them on other engines/software.

Really exciting addition and I should have mentioned it in this video. I might try and get some more examples and test it out over easter :D Thanks for reminding me of this, one of those things I was so keen to play around with!

  2. What's the process to update to be new version of blender and import all your previous configs, addons, bookmarks, etc.?

Is there any method to do it property?

    Thanks

    • Install the new version in a new folder. Run the new version, and on the splash screen click the 'Import previous settings' link (or something like that). The new version will now have all the settings and bookmarks of the previous version. You might need to reinstall/re-enable extra addons. I keep all my extra addons in a separate folder on my disk so I don't lose them when I uninstall on old version of Blender. Once you're sure the new version is stable and works for you, delete the old version.
