Custom Properties: What are they and how to use them?
In short, they are custom values that you can attach to pretty much anything, from world, to lamps, meshes and bones. They're particularly useful when used on bones, because you can access them on linked proxy armatures.
In this tutorial I create a couple custom properties, and use them to drive SubSurf levels and turn fur on/off on our bunny.
