Blender sighting: Felicia Day's cosplay

6

Felicia Day collaborated with Blender artist Melissa Ng on an awesome 3D printed fantasy armor.

In a Geek & Sundry post about custom cosplay armor, the one and only Felicia Day talks about how a fan got inspired by Codex, a character played by Day in the show The Guild, to start creating 3D printed cosplay costumes.

You can see Blender a couple of times during the video, the first one being around the 44-second mark. The 3D prints are done by Shapeways. Towards the end of the video you can see a photo shoot with Felicia Day sporting the armor.

  1. I clicked this out of curiosity. From the title alone (Blender sighting: Felicia Day's cosplay) I thought "What's this? Did she dress as Suzanne? or............. Sintel? lol.

  2. I know 3D printing is being very popular and relevant in Fashion Design. I've seen many examples of designers working with parametric tools (such as grasshopper3D) to elaborate innovative designs which are 3D printed later. But I always saw that explorations as experimentation and prototyping rather than practical and wearable clothes. But my appreciation is changing with examples of 3D printing applied on cosplay design. They are not doing experimentation, they do real practical application of 3D printing on Fashion Design. It is with their works where it is possible to see complete and finished works showing all the potential of this technology.
