I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.


  1. Nice to see that some big is on the horizon!!!!That is one of those developments with the potential to make a break through, and for now i dont know any other software with such a so good pbr shader integration in the viewport!!

    I can see myself using this for make some quick openGL renders for Motion Graphics and my simple animations, can save hours of render time ;D

  4. This will be essential for blender to be taken seriously as many 3D pipelines are slowly shifting to using PBR. Very nice, cant wait.

    • From what Bart said, no, at least not until the new viewportfx work is ready, thought i heard it might be ready for 2.8 or so. And it probably will take longer than that as Clement said it's still pretty early, exciting though!
