A really really really horrible name for the addon.
IK in 3d-design is already a very common abbreviation and this name is totally misleading.
The addon itself looks very interesting, but i think a lot of people will expect something very different, therefore being disappointed.

I think the larger problem is that they may not even read the description and already decide it’s not worth the time to check out whether they might want to buy it.
That being said I don’t think the name is terrible per se. Just a little misleading as this has nothing to do, as far as I can tell, with Inverse Kinematics which is what IK usually stands for.
I honestly assumed this would be about somehow controlling text in an advanced way via a rig and IK. The actual functionality does look nice too, though.

Very cool plug-in, nice work! As far as the name goes, wouldn’t be the first person to use their initials to brand their tools. I personally wouldn’t call it misleading, at least not intentionally. But when I first read the plugin title I did wonder about how the mechanics of IK applied to a text tool. Couldn’t help it, that’s just what I associate IK with. :-)
I must say that the name is also weird for me – not a good choice.
I saw the video, asked myself how in the hell this is related to IK, and immediately ditched it.
If you want to call it after your name it should be IK’s Text Effects.. It’s misleading as it is now.
You cannot ask people to read description, the first impression is already done.
I agree – I expected some wonderful mixture of text and armature IK, but it’s not. If Issanou releases more plugins all beginning with ‘IK’ there’ll be a lot of confusion! Why not ‘IsKa-TextEffects’ or something that is not (and always will be) confusing in the 3D world?

it is no false debate, it’s about appropriately naming your tools. Bad luck, your initials are IK, and it’s also a “term” in 3D. You wouldn’t sell something called “tomato soup” if it doesn’t contain tomato, even if tomato was your name, i guess
To be more precise: for the names as the prices of my products, I’m the only person who know what to do. And people follow me or not.

I get what you’re saying Issanou, you’re making your point very clearly, but at the same time ignoring what others are saying.
Imagine if a man named Bob Steering invented a new type of car tyre and wanted to market it as “The Steering Wheel” would that be a good name, or would it confuse his potential market. Would people looking for car tyres, ignore his product as it was not named as they expect?
I understand you have put time and effort into what, as far as I can see is an excellent product which I will consider buying, but can you see how the branding that you have selected can provide confusion?
In the 3D realm, IK means Inverse Kinematics and no amount of excellence in your tools is going to shift this. Building a brand against this will constantly bring you back to this debate, which will be frustrating for you and take attention away from the usefulness of what you create.
The solution would seem to be to move from the specific acronym. One other poster here has suggested “IsKa” as a brand and that has a nice ring to it. There is plenty of scope for examining this – Just don’t find yourself in the position of defending a brand decision that you may not have realised was not the best when you made it.
Afterthought – My favourite image viewer is called “IrfanView”. The author used his full name and built a brand on the quality of the product – It’s not a bad idea.

Maybe that a fist solution could be use an explicit logo.

While I agree the name is misleading, I still clicked through to see what it is all about! I was also curious how IK could be related to this tool. I should also point out that so did all the people giving you grief! :P
