Are there any videos that demonstrate the volume density render? I'm still not exactly sure what that is.
It is what they used to create/render the cloud poofs in the Cosmos' Laundromat. I believe at least.
If I understand it correctly, it's a way to render particles or vertices as dots in a volume.
Yeah, all companies show a video highlighting their newest features, Blender Foundation shows you text XD
Well, this isn't a full release yet, just rc (release candidate), so a video might be a bit premature for this post. Also even if it was a full release, blender incrementally updates features, so they usually aren't completely stunning on their own and the list of features is often brief. They release a new blender version at like 6 times the rate of the other guys. I don't think a feature video is quite as useful in our situation. Plus if you follow any of the devs on social media or the open projects, you can often catch little feature videos that way.
But hey, blender is a community effort. If a user wants to create feature videos for the releases they totally should. Thomas Beck was doing some pretty good feature previews for a long while.
Still no OpenSubdiv for Linux (even on CPU). Kay' :-/
I had no problem with OpenSubdiv in Linux... Xubuntu 15.04, AMD Catalyst (fglrx) 15.7
Weird... the only option I get for OpenSubdiv is None. I don't use the proprietary driver fglrx, but Mesa / Gallium / AMD Barts... this might be unrelated since for me the CPU option is also missing, which has nothing to do with video card or driver.
RC2? So fast??
Well, that's why I'm platinum donator =)
