Finally a Text Effect for the VSE! Long awaited, I just HAVE TO try this out.
It's welcome and I used it for a project this week. More geared for subtitles than video titles or credits. I look forward to a day when non-destructive mo graph text effects make it into Blender
Well.. it's good to have all those small improvements, but I must say I am a bit disappointed in the big one - opensubdiv. Firstly, I can not even try it, because Mac is not supported because of basically very old Blender code.. Ok, I understand, that Apple is also to blame here, but then again.. discussions about using more new OpenGL version have been around as long as I can remember using Blender, so.. there it is, maybe it should be done finally?
And even if you have a PC, open subdiv at this point basically has so many limitations, that it basically has almost no value in production.. I probably am a little too harsh, but I really expect more from BF, especially after they have spent almost a year making a movie.

;) I know, I know..
Don't worry even under Linux and Windows not all OpenSubDiv options are displayed even under cards that have full support of needed OGL extensions and have OpenCL working. For example i have no OpenCL option only GLSL and CPU.
Basicly its half(going by feature description far less) working realization. The funny part is that its Blender devs who were always claiming "we're waiting for Pixar" like it easy to add OpenSubDiv. And finally when Pixar released 3.0 Blender devs have fundamental problems and alot of work to do on Blender's side that could've been worked out for a span of a year. But hopefully in 2.8 we'll have good Opensubdiv.
I've been waiting for some viewport improving for a looong time. And finally Blender can handle displaying a scene with over 10 million faces with no lags. And even play animations with non-deforming geometry and textures at full fps, but interacting with objects in viewport when polycount is high is still a pain. I hope it will improve someday. But anyway - great job on performance is done! Though i have to say - setting Opensubdiv checkbox on Subdiv modifier make thing much slower for some reason :)
What do people think about the new create directory button in the file dialog box?
Maybe make the 'plus' sign a bit darker so it stands out? It took me a while to find the icon the first couple of times because I'm used to looking for the black plus sign, so I'm wondering about others' experiences.
