From the announcement:
The final release of the 1.5 version of LuxRender has been delayed a bit more than expected because of some annoying bugs found during final testing, but here it is and we hope that you'll enjoy using it and make our jaws drop with new renderings.
As for v1.4, LuxRender itself has not seen much changes but the new LuxCore rendering core has gained a lot of features and nearly matches classic LuxRender. We won't stop there though and lots of exciting stuff is already pending for v1.6.
You can get a visual outlook of the new features in the wiki: major speed improvements, volume precedence, new materials and textures, volume emission, strands, better integration in Blender and 3DSMax to name just a few.

Congratulations on this release.
From what I can tell, bidirectional path tracing is not available on GPU in v1.5. Are there any test builds available with bidir on GPU? I've some caustics heavy projects I'd like to render but do not have the patience for CPU renders.
