Tortoise hoof and toucan beak rebuilt with the help of Blender and 3D printing

Cicero Moraes writes:

Dear friends,

In this post I present two projects with one goal, to bring back quality of life to animals. The post features how to use Blender and 3D printing to rebuild the hoof of a tortoise who was a victim of a forest fire and also the reconstruction of a toucan beak. Just using free software, with techniques that will soon be available in our digital facial reconstruction manual (free ebook).

Good reading!

  1. I'm glad that poor toucan finally got a new beak. Didn't know about the tortoise, but I'm glad it got helped, too. Always nice to see humans doing something humane with technology, for once.

what a waste of time! the toucan and the turtle are food for us, humans - God's greatest creation. they should kill it and eat it as God commanded in the Bible. now God is angry and we all shall pay for it. just look for the signs and you'll see! those damn scientists! what will they do next? print 3d feathers and stuff a frozen chicken?!

The reason why this had to happen was quite sickening (as far as the Toucan was concerned), but the work these people put into the reconstruction is truly awesome. A great way of restoring faith in humanity :) It also makes me wonder about what other medical applications 3d printing will have in the future.

    belo trabalho.
