Sketchfab adds support for animation

3

You can now display animations using Sketchfab's WebGL viewer. It fully supports their other display options like Physically Based Rendering and Realtime shadows.

Today, we’re excited to announce our Animation Preview which lets you add a new dimension to your models: motion! We know this is one of the most requested features from our community, and we so we’re thrilled to bring it to you.

We are currently inviting beta testers to upload their animated models with bones or solids in FBX format. Read on to learn how join them in the beta program.

The example in this article was done in Blender by polish_farmer. Just export your animations using Blender's built-in FBX supporter and upload them to Sketchfab!

Give it a try and let me know what you think!

We're currently showing the animation feature at SIGGRAPH (not too far from the Blender booth, actually ;-). Here are some pictures of polish_farmer's model on the big screen:

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
